Exec. Summary: Cafes for School Safety/Security, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Mental Health Exec. Summary: Cafes for School Safety/Security, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Mental Health: The East Syracuse Minoa Central School District conducted three Community Cafes on School Safety and Security and Welcoming Environment;  Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; and Mental Health.  Approximately 200 parents attended and participated in the sessions which were held at the following sites:
  • Central High School - October 11, 2022 
  • Pine Grove Middle School - October 18, 2022

  • “The Larry Costello Inaugural Classic” is Dec. 17 “The Larry Costello Inaugural Classic” is Dec. 17: Show off your basketball skills and compete against other ESM staff, students & alum! Support the local community and honor Larry Costello—an NBA player, coach, Basketball Hall of Famer AND an ESM Alum raised right here in Minoa! “The Larry Costello Inaugural Classic” is Saturday evening, Dec. 17 in the ESM High School gym.     ESM Named 9x Best Community for Music Education ESM Named 9x Best Community for Music Education: Congratulations to our entire music department! We’re proud that, for the 9th year in a row, ESM was honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation, awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. The past 2 years have been a struggle from “no singing” to “instrument masks” so this honor is hard earned. It has been heartwarming to see concerts, musicals, marching & parade band all coming back in-person this school year!     “Camps for Cause” Baseball & Softball Clinics to benefit The Amazin’ Mets Foundation. “Camps for Cause” Baseball & Softball Clinics to benefit The Amazin’ Mets Foundation.: Do you want to enhance your hitting and fielding skills?  Camps for Cause is a 1 hour hitting and 1 hour fielding instructional clinic to support the Amazin’ Mets Foundation.  The clinic sessions will be held on Sun., Dec. 11 and Sun., Dec. 18 at The Sports Yard Training Facility.  There will be two 2 hour sessions held each day at 10:00 am and 12:30 pm. The 10:00 am sessions will be for athletes ages 6 to 10 years old, and the 12:30 pm sessions will be for athletes 11 to 15 years old.  Sessions will be limited to 25 athletes per session on a first come first serve basis.  Bats, helmets, and fielding gloves are required.  The Sports Yard has limited equipment available if needed.  Sneakers or turf shoes recommended.  No metal cleats allowed in ...
    Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees - Jan 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees - Jan 2023: The East Syracuse Minoa Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has announced its 9th class of inductees. Nine individuals will enter the East Syracuse Minoa Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, January 14.  Honorees are: 
  • John Novenche: '62, Basketball
  • Paul DiMartino: '65, Lacrosse
  • William Hard: '66, Athlete - Football, Wrestling, Lacrosse
  • Chet Groesbeck: '71, Football
  • Samuel "Skip" Miller: '73, Lacrosse
  • Jill Marani: '82, Athlete - Soccer, Basketball, Softball
  • Michael Williams: '82, Track and Field
  • ESM Alum Larry Costello Named to the Basketball Hall of Fame ESM Alum Larry Costello Named to the Basketball Hall of Fame: We’re proud that ESM Alum Larry Costello (Class of ’49) has been named to the Naismith Memor ial Basketball Hall of Fame. He was a 6 time NBA All-Star in 12 seasons. He was a member of the ’67 World Champion Philadelphia 76ers and coached 10 years, including taking the Milwaukee Bucks to the ’71 NBA title. He also returned to ESM to serve as the Spartan’s first basketball coach when districts merged to become the East Syracuse Minoa. He was inducted into ESM's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. His career as a player and a coach in 5 different decades is unparalleled. Lawrence "Larry" Ronald Costello was born on July 2, 1931 and was raised in Minoa, graduating from Minoa High School in 1949.  He was a three-sport star in high school, excelling ...
